About Bourse Prep
Independent exam preparation, built by someone who studies this material too.
Bourse Prep started from a simple frustration: most exam preparation material for finance certifications is either recycled from outdated sources or written without much care for whether it actually teaches the underlying concept.
The story behind it
Usman Ali Khan prepared for the ICWIM qualification for almost a year and studied through two different training institutes. Even with that support, there was no practical system that showed what was actually understood, where the weak areas were, and whether the preparation was genuinely exam-ready. Bourse Prep grew out of the study method he eventually built and has used throughout his own preparation. The platform exists so other candidates can use that same structured approach without having to invent it themselves.
We build every question from the official syllabus, write an original explanation for every question, including why the answer you picked is wrong, and structure practice around how the real exam is actually weighted, chapter by chapter.
The first course was the CISI International Certificate in Wealth & Investment Management (ICWIM). The second is CISI UAE Financial Rules and Regulations (FRR). Bourse Prep was built as a multi-course platform from day one, so both live under the same account and the same standard of question quality, and further certifications can follow.
Why the name
A bourse is a stock exchange. The word is older than the institution it now describes: it comes from the Van der Beurze family, whose inn in Bruges was where merchants from Genoa, Florence and Venice met to trade from the late 1200s. The family coat of arms carried three purses, beurzen in Flemish, and the name of the meeting place became the name of the activity. It travelled into French as bourse, Dutch as beurs, Italian as borsa and German as Börse.
We chose it because the exam is not the destination. Passing ICWIM matters, but it matters because of what comes after it: advising clients, managing portfolios, working in markets. Bourse Prep exists to prepare finance professionals for that work, and the qualification is the first step on the way.
Our approach to quality
Every question passes through a structured authoring and review process. All 1,200 ICWIM questions were reviewed and approved by an experienced ICWIM instructor before they went live, and the 700 UAE FRR questions were reviewed with an experienced UAE FRR instructor.
Independence
Bourse Prep is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or produced in partnership with CISI or any other examining body. All content is independently authored.
